When you think of group Yoga classes many people question, "why should I take Yoga classes?" Yoga is a mind and body practice over 5,000 years old. It is one of the many ways to get in touch with our body's holding patterns creating a union of breathe and movement. There are 8 styles of Yoga: Anusara, Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha, Hot Yoga, Iyengar, Restorative, and Vinyasna.
The classes I offer are a mix of Vinyasna and Hatha. Some of my classes (Core Yoga) even include dance techniques from Belly dancing, Hula dancing and tribal movement. Core Yoga also includes pilates and sports conditioning movements. Vinyasa is a practice of flow through asnas (poses). It is also one of the most popular Yoga practices here in the United States. Hatha on the other hand is an old system that includes asnas and pranayama (breathe exercises) that aid in connecting the mind and the body. This is a great way to prep the body for meditation.
